Why Virgil Earp's Mustache Matters
There is a strong argument that Sam Elliott does not play characters with mustaches so much as mustaches are cast and Sam Elliott comes attached. In Tombstone, as Virgil Earp, he brings the full walrus: thick, heavy, spilling over the upper lip and lending every line a gravelly authority.
