About Mike Schmidt
Mike Schmidt, born in 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, played his entire career with the Philadelphia Phillies (1972–1989) and is widely regarded as the best third baseman in history. He hit 548 home runs, led the National League in homers eight times, and won three NL MVP awards (1980, 1981, 1986).
He was the MVP of the 1980 World Series, the first championship in Phillies history, and collected 10 Gold Gloves for his defense at the hot corner. Schmidt was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995, his first year on the ballot.
