Big Jim has logged more than two million miles in a Peterbilt and says his painter's brush mustache has seen every sunrise between Fargo and Bakersfield. It is wide, neat, and trimmed at truck stops with a mirror clipped to the visor.
He grew it in his first year driving "because the radio guys all sounded like they had one, and I wanted to sound like that too."
Jim hauls mostly grain and machinery, listens to old baseball broadcasts on tape, and keeps a running tally of mustaches spotted at weigh stations. Current count: a lot.
