The Stach Story
Earl runs the same Sandhills ranch his great-grandfather homesteaded, and his imperial mustache looks like it came with the deed. It sweeps up and out with a confidence that has been described by a local reporter as "architectural."
He grew it in his thirties "after the drought, when I figured I had earned something that would grow no matter what."
Earl reads Western paperbacks in the cab of his pickup while the cattle water and has strong opinions about every mustache in every one of them.
After a drought, wanted something that would grow no matter what.
The Homestead
Has a framed photo of the mustache in the county co-op office. He did not hang it there.
