Jack has been riding Engine 14 in Phoenix for sixteen years, and his mustache has been riding along for twelve of them. He grew it after a rookie bet on a July shift and never looked back. The guys at the house say the mustache has its own locker.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a motor transport operator before trading the desert for a different kind of heat. Jack says the discipline stuck, the haircut did not, and the mustache is the compromise.
