The Story

About Hank Parker

Hank Parker is a professional bass angler turned television host from North Carolina. He won the Bassmaster Classic twice, in 1979 and 1989, and was named Bassmaster Angler of the Year in 1983, a combination that put him among the most decorated anglers of his era. He stepped away from full-time tournament fishing after his second Classic win.

He then became one of the most durable personalities in outdoor television as host of Hank Parker's Outdoor Magazine, a fishing-and-hunting program that ran for decades, and of related shows and family-oriented outdoor content. He is a member of the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame.

On the water and on screen, Parker has worn a neat, full mustache for his entire public career, a steady presence above a steadier smile.

The Verdict

Why the Stach Became Iconic

Parker's mustache is the chevron of a Southern gentleman: full across the lip, never showy, always present. It aged gracefully from dark to silver over forty years of television without ever changing shape, which is exactly the sort of consistency this Hall likes to reward.

It is also a mustache that has held up a lot of trophies. Two Bassmaster Classic wins put it on the biggest stage in competitive fishing, and Outdoor Magazine kept it in living rooms long after the tournament days were done.
