About Bill Jordan
Bill Jordan is the founder of Realtree, the camouflage company he started in Columbus, Georgia, in 1986 with a pattern designed to look like the actual bark, limbs and leaves a hunter sits against. A former Auburn University football player who went to work in his family's marine and outdoor business, Jordan turned that first pattern into one of the most licensed brands in the outdoor industry, printed on everything from hunting clothes to pickup trucks.
He also became one of hunting television's most familiar faces as host of Realtree Outdoors and through the long-running Monster Bucks video series, which helped define the modern whitetail-hunting video genre. Many of the industry's best-known personalities, including Michael Waddell, got their start working under the Realtree banner.
Through it all Jordan has worn a neat, full mustache that is nearly as recognizable to hunters as the Realtree logo itself.
Why the Stach Became Iconic
Jordan's mustache is a classic chevron: full, tidy and tucked right along the lip, the sort of mustache that looks at home under a camo cap and in a boardroom alike. It is the look of the hunting industry's founding generation, and on the Realtree Outdoors set it was a constant while the camo patterns behind it kept evolving.
It is also a mustache with reach. Because Realtree and its shows were everywhere in the outdoor world for decades, Jordan's face, and his lip, became shorthand for the brand.
