The Story

About Chuck Adams

Chuck Adams is an American bowhunter and outdoor writer widely regarded as one of the most accomplished archery hunters in history. In 1990 he became the first person to complete the North American Super Slam with a bow, taking all 27 recognized species of North American big game with archery equipment, a feat that made him a household name among bowhunters.

A former magazine editor, he has written extensively for outdoor publications and authored books on bowhunting, and has been associated with archery and outdoor companies for decades. His approach, built on careful stalking, physical conditioning and attention to gear, has been studied by two generations of archers. He has been inducted into bowhunting halls of fame and honored by Pope and Young and other organizations.

Through decades of magazine covers and seminar stages, Adams has kept a neat, full mustache, the quiet signature of a hunter better known for patience than flash.

The Verdict

Why the Stach Became Iconic

Adams' mustache is a trim chevron, the kind that says discipline rather than display. On a man famous for stalking within bow range of the continent's wariest animals, it is fitting: nothing extra, nothing out of place, everything maintained.

It has also been remarkably consistent, appearing on outdoor magazine covers and book jackets for decades without changing. Longevity counts in this Hall, and so does being first; Adams brings both.
