Why Lando Calrissian's Mustache Matters
Billy Dee Williams established Lando Calrissian's mustache in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and when Donald Glover took over the younger version in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), the lip was non-negotiable. Glover's take is slimmer and sharper — a pencil-adjacent mustache for a smooth-talking gambler who owns more capes than most people own shirts.
The mustache is part of the swagger. Lando is the best-dressed person in any room, and his facial hair is groomed with the same care as his wardrobe. It is light, precise and a little theatrical, which is exactly right for a man who cheats at sabacc with a straight face.
It also earns Lando a place in the small club of sci-fi characters whose mustache is genuinely canon.
