The Story

About Gardner Minshew

Gardner Flint Minshew II was born in 1996 in Brandon, Mississippi. After stops at Northwest Mississippi Community College and East Carolina, he transferred to Washington State for one magical season in 2018 under Mike Leach, throwing for more than 4,700 yards and winning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars took him in the sixth round of the 2019 draft, and when Nick Foles broke his collarbone in Week 1, Minshew took over and became a national phenomenon. "Minshew Mania" swept the league: the mustache, the headband, the jean shorts, and a rookie who played with total fearlessness.

He has since bounced between Philadelphia, Indianapolis (where he earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2023 after stepping in for an injured starter), Las Vegas and Kansas City, always arriving with the same mustache and the same cult following.
