About Nick Offerman
Nicholas David Offerman was born in 1970 in Joliet, Illinois, and raised in nearby Minooka, a small farming town that he credits with most of his practical skills and all of his deadpan. He studied theater at the University of Illinois, co-founded a Chicago theater company, and spent his twenties building sets and doing fight choreography between acting jobs, which is how he became a genuinely accomplished woodworker.
Television found him in the 2000s, but it was Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation (2009–2015) that turned Offerman into a cultural figure: a libertarian parks director who loved breakfast food, hated the government he worked for, and sported a mustache so thick it had its own gravity. The character was written around Offerman's real personality to a degree that still surprises people.
Since then he has quietly become one of the most respected character actors around, with Fargo (2015), The Founder (2016), Devs (2020), and an Emmy-winning guest turn in The Last of Us (2023). He runs Offerman Woodshop in Los Angeles, has written several bestselling books, and has been married to actress Megan Mullally since 2003.
